Stick it in Your Pu-Jols

In case you haven’t heard, Albert Pujols is more then likely set to become a free agent at the end of this season.  If that’s the case, I see no way that this guy stays in St. Louis.  There’s a reason that he didn’t accept your contract offer Cardinals fans….it’s because he’s done with you.  Don’t give me this garbage about how he doesn’t want this whole ordeal to be a “distraction” throughout the season.  Um Albert, pretty sure it’s going to be more of a distraction if you completely ignore the situation.  Every stadium you visit is going to be all-up-on your nuts the whole time to try to persuade you to sign there until you agree to an extension.

With all that being said, there is no way I’d sign this guy for 10 years.  I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but since that whole steroid era kind of passed, players are calling it quits much earlier.  Why is this?  Because performance enhancers keep your body feeling younger and help you deal with injuries better.  So unless Sir Albert is using some kind of sneaky substance (which is very possible) his career is clearly going to start to fade once he hits 36 or so (he’s 31 now).

On the flip side, if the Yankees offer him a huge deal I’d be disgusted if the Sox don’t make an offer.  If we could somehow sign him as a DH/1B (sorry Papi), that could quite possibly be the best lineup in the history of baseball…and if New York gets him, then we could be in some trouble.  Who knows what’s going to happen?  All I know is, I’m pretty sure he’s not returning to St. Louis.

P.S.-Just because I posted this, he’ll resign with them tomorrow.

P.P.S.-I’d like to officially call out Buster Olney for the most idiotic thing I’ve heard in a while.  I heard him on ESPN last night say something like this, “No way are the Cardinals going to trade Albert Pujols.  What if the Cavaliers tried trading Lebron James?”  Umm…Buster.  If King Doucebag taught us anything, it’s that professional athletes can not be trusted and only care about themselves.  Looking back on it now, don’t you think Cleavland would have loved to at least get something in return for Lebron?  In two years when Pujols signs elsewhere, and the Cardinals are the worst team in baseball, I’ll be the one who told you to go f*** yourself….and yes, I just dropped a line from, “The Town,” what’s good?

I agree – 10 years in the post steriod era is unthinkable – even the 8 years that the cardinals offered is too long.
