Put me in coach: Marquis Daniels

Marquis Daniels is the 5th best scoring option on the Celtics. Not Shaq missing layups and/or free throws. Not Nate taking contested pull-up threes with 19 left on the shot clock. Not Glen Davis taking 20 shots a game.

Marquis consistently gets it done when he’s given the ball in the low post. Sometimes he looks like the best player on the floor. Season-high 19 points vs. Houston the other night. He’s orchestrated several fourth quarter masterpieces in which he’s either the scorer or assister on each play. He takes care of the ball better than Nate and creates matchup problems when played at the point.

Who knows what will happen to Marquis’ playing time with the return of KG and Perkins. The C’s could go big off the bench–with J.O, Baby, and Perk/Shaq getting most of the time. Hopefully, they’ll keep Marquis in his nightly role of 14-16 minutes, spelling the guards and Pierce, commanding attention on offense and playing lockdown defense.
